Avengers: The Children's Crusade #2 Review |
Avengers: Children's Crusade is my most anticipated comic of the year and after a strong start my hopes were still sky high for this series. But with 9 issues, a bi-monthly release schedule I had big worries of the pacing for this title and felt it may be better as a trade-wait it kind of book. Despite there being a 2 month difference since I read the first issue, does the second impress enough to change my stance or is this still left better as an Amazon pre-order? Let's Find out.

ADVANCE COPY: Magdalena #3 Review |
Magdalena was a series I wasn't too interested in upon its announcement. All I knew was that it had a great creative team behind it. That was enough to keep me interested and recently read the first 2 issues . They were great, really got the ball rolling and had me very excited to see what happens next. Does this issue continue that trend or does it falter? Lets find out.

Reader Question: What do you think of Multiple Batmen? |
Batman is considered by many to be the ultimate Human. The world's greatest detective, just about everyone and their mother loves Batman. DC announced that Bruce Wayne won't be the only man to become a Bat this fall as his long time partner and former Nightwing, Dick Grayson keeps his cowl. This brings up a question for you all once again.

Captain America #609 Review |
Ever since renumbering to the 600s Captain America has dipped in quality but now during the Heroic Brubaker has been able to return this title to form. This latest arc titled “No Escape” has delivered more of the type of story that I expect from a Ed Brubaker penned Captain America comic. There have been some interesting developments in the story as a whole as it looks like Bucky’s Winter Soldier past will come back to haunt him. Now let’s check out Captain America #609.

Comic Book Revolution Podcast #57 |
In this podcast, Andrenn, Kevin and Rokk take a look at:
Ultimate Avengers 3 #1
Ultimate Spider-Man #13
Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #1
Superman #702
Steve Rogers: Super Soldier #2
Thanos Imperative #3
Batman #702 is the second part of this story arc that bridges the gap between the end of RIP and the beginning of Final Crisis. I do not expect this issue to deliver anything important plot wise. This issue is going to me more of a thematic read as Morrison continues to flesh out the concepts that he has been playing with over on RIP and on Final Crisis. Let’s go ahead and hit this review for Batman #702.

Wolverine: Weapon X #16 Review |
Though Wolverine: Weapon X has been one of my favorite Marvel titles I was very disappointed with how the Deathlock arc turned out. It started off well but the latter part of the arc just went around in circles. With that said Aaron has done a great job writing Wolverine throughout his run and before this last arc he has delivered one quality read after another.
I have actually been looking forward to this issue that explores the aftermath of Nightcrawlers death and the impact he had on Logan. This should be a nice sendoff to this title as it will be relaunched next week as just “Wolverine.” Now let’s check out Wolverine: Weapon X #16.

As a big fan of Batman Beyond cartoon I have been very disappointed by this new mini-series that DC has put out. While Adam Beechen has done a solid job capturing Terry and Bruce’s voices the story involving Hush has been boring. With how Hush has been everywhere in the Batman books seeing him here has felt out of place. Still, as big fan of the cartoon I am hopeful that with Hush and Catwoman Beyond now introduced the story can pick up. Now let’s see if Batman Beyond #3 can deliver.

The Viltrumite War has been excellent so far, but with a delay and only reaching the halfway I had some worries about this issue. Kirkman isn't best known for long drawn out stories. As we reach the halfway mark is this war a bloody success or a massive casualty? Let's Find out.

Fantastic Four #582 Review |
Fantastic Four under Hickman’s watch has quickly become one of my favorite titles on the market. I have always been a Fantastic Four fan and Hickman is reminding me why I love these characters so much with his run. And I loved the first part to this two-part arc that deals with the Multiverses Nathaniel Richards. It is awesome how Hickman has tied this book in SHIELD and I want to see how Hickman will end this story in this second, and final, part. Enough talk, time to hit this review for Fantastic Four #582.

Legion of Super-Heroes #4 Review |
Paul Levitz has returned the Legion to it's rightful place...at the top of my reading stack. His run has brought back the old magic while not seeming old fashioned. This is a rare case where you can go home again.
What has me excited about this issue? The banner at the top of the cover. "The Great Darkness Returns" brings back memories of the classic "Great Darkness Saga". If you have not read it, look for the collection. It is one of the best Legion stories. Let's see how the new "Darkness" story goes...

Image United has been a dream come true for me as an Image fan. But the first 2 issues suffered from slow plotting no doubt, but I could forgive them for the fact that the characters I love so much were written so well and the artwork was absolutely amazing. But after an 8 month delay, can good character work and art save this title? Is the character work and art even still good? Lets find out.

I was very impressed with Wonder Woman #601. JMS delivered a strong start to his run as he re-constructs Wonder Woman’s character and history. Even though I am not digging certain elements of Wonder Woman’s new costume (lose the jacket WW) JMS showed that this new story has a lot of potential as the Amazons are being hunted and Wonder Woman must unite and save them. Now the question is if JMS can continue the momentum from the #601 with Wonder Woman #602. Let’s find out.
